Introduction

Anjuman-e-Saifee Chicago was formally constituted in the early 1970s as a nonprofit, though members of the Dawoodi Bohra community had made Chicago their home as early as the 1950s. From a handful of young, aspiring students, we have grown into a vibrant community of 1000+ members including over 200 children, many of whom are third-generation immigrants. We represent an important part of the American story. We are entrepreneurs and professionals, academicians and physicians, lawyers and government employees. In all that we do, we mirror the qualities that make us stand out globally—peace-loving, law-abiding, industrious, placing a high value on education and community service.

Purpose

The community benefits when the community comes together. The members of Anjuman-e-Saifee have succeeded on multiple fronts by making that premise their guiding principle. Usually, the Burhani Park Complex in Willowbrook, Illinois is the nerve center of the Chicagoland community. Here, members gather regularly for all kinds of events, and children attend quranic studies and religious education classes on Saturdays and for activities during the week. The programs for children are funded by donations from the community.
